	Overall Rating: About the Reviewer: Age: 50 - 65 Traveler Type: Couple Stateroom Type: Balcony Second cruise - not as good by A Traveler from Milwaukee, WI Sailing date: Jan 2008 Pros: Lido dining; adult pool Cons: Staff not as attentive as before We recently took our second cruise on the Westerdam (first 2 years ago) and found this time subtle differences in the quality of the cruise. It seems corners were being cut in service. Is that because of being bought by Carnival? Our room was not as spotlessly clean nor were public areas like the elevators and glass on doors as they had been on the first trip. There also seemed to be fewer and less attentive pool stewards. The ports were great - staff entertainment was excellent although personally we were not excited about the other entertainment which did not seem to match with the group on the ship. Ship Details: Ship Quality decor lovely, ship size very nice, but there was a subtle change in cleanliness. Dining/Food Food was fine, service in the main resturant was excellent and dining times were convenient. We loved the ice cream late at night in the Lido buffet. Stateroom Quality Only concern was the dust and tables not always cleaned. It appears that the room stewards have more cabins to care for. We actually only saw our steward once or twice on the cruise- bed was always fresh as were towels. Ship Staff Quality Dining staff friendly and always willing to accomodate our request. We celebrated 3 birthdays at our table the same evening and a birthday cake was presented to each person and birthday song sung! Entertainment & Activities The HAL singers and dancers put on great shows - the variety of the other entertainers was not as good as our first sailing on this ship 8 out of 8 people found this review helpful. Cons: The activities were few and far between. The ship was a nice size, not too large or too small. The staff were friendly and helpful. We never had to "reserve" the chais-lounges on deck because there plenty to be had by all. Ship Details: Ship Quality I would have given this a "best" rating but I think they could have more trach cans in pubic areas, like around the elevators. Dining/Food The food was excellent but predictable. I like more exotic foods and would have welcomed a unique dish every now and then. We had the first seating. Service was prompt and personal. Stateroom Quality I had an inside cabin. The room was large and comfortable. Pillows were soft and the bed real comfy. Ship Staff Quality The stewards would go out of their way to make your room without you knowing it. I never caught them in the act of actually cleaning the room it was just clean whenever I returned to it. Entertainment & Activities Don't go on this cruise if you are looking for loads of activities. The activities were few and far between. The entertainment staff didn't even wear uniforms so they were hard to spot when out on deck.
