Treated like a Celebrity! by Perry N. from Orlando, Florida
Sailing date: Dec 2008

Pros:
The wine and Cognac tastings!

Cons:
Time spent in port was too short!

Our time spent on Century last winter was SO great, we booked it again this year! The 35 million dollars Royal Caribbean spent on her refurbishment shines throughout every corner of the ship. The staff goes the extra-mile to see to it that your every request is not only met on time, but above your expectations. Whether enjoying Sushi on the Aft-Deck Bar/Restaurant area after a day in-port, enjoying the string-quartet after dinner, hitting the Disco or taking in a show, there isn't one thing I would say Celebrity should change about their hospitality on the Century... it is that RELAXING! If you want more JUMP in your step when cruising, I would recommend their Big Sister, Royal Caribbean. If you want luxury, pampering, and a true experience out of the ordinary, there is no better value than Celebrity Century if you can't take more than a 4 or 5-night vacation. While our 10 year-old does prefer the Royal Caribbean Kid's Program a little more than Celebrity's, the staff on this ship truly goes out of their way to please even the youngest of the young 16 hours a day! Have no fear booking a voyage on this ship. As an experienced crusie-a-holic with almost two dozen voyages under my belt traveling on more than a half-dozen cruiselines, I know what I'm talking about!

Ship Quality
While dwarfed by today's standards of the "cities @ sea" like the Freedom-Class or Solstice-Class SUPER-Liners, you will find plenty to do on Century. She has sleek, modern lines both inside and out, and is easy to navigate through. The main restaurant is elegant, and the wait-staff is top-notch. Signs and diagrams of the ship are posted everywhere, so finding out how to get from one spot of the ship to another is simple to do.

Dining/Food
Not to be out-done by other aspects of hospitality on-board, Century's dining facilities are also a step up over their Parent-Line Royal Caribbean. Whether dining in the Garden Cafe, the Main Dining Room or a specialty restaurant, you will not be disappointed!

Stateroom Quality
Although this is an older ship (1995) by today's standard, it is only now that the newest ships in all the cruiselines are catching up to the square footage space that Century offers in her cabins. You will find it easy to move around in your cabin, even if you are a family of three or four. The same holds true in the bathroom of your cabin. The Century-Class ships were largely responsible for changing the industry's thinking when it came to designing more comfort into the cruising experience.

Ship Staff Quality
As stated earlier in this review; whether it were being welcomed aboard by the Senior Officers and staff, passing a cabin-steward in a hallway, being seated for dinner, or even brushing up against one of the entertainers on-board during the day, there was never a time while on Century that any member of my family wasn't greeted with a smile, and a question of how they could make our experience with them even better.

Entertainment & Activities
This too is what I think sets Celebrity apart from much of their competition. As soon as you are welcomed aboard, you are greeted with "White Glove" treatment, Champagne, (Shirley Temples for the kiddies) and escorted to your cabin while strings play in the centrum of the ship. Once the staff-member places your belongings in your closets, you are provided with the schedule of Events laying out all the entertainment from the Top-Deck Calipso Bands, to Jazz-Quartets, to Piano-Bar, Stageshow, Bingo, Disco, Casino and more for the remainder of the day (and night). Whether you like Big-Band, Rock-n-Roll, Jazz or Disco, there is always something going on somewhere on the ship; upto 2AM! If cooking up a storm in the kitchen is your bag, be on the lookout for the Executive Chefs to provide some great lessons on food-prep. Ever wanted to learn how do do an Ice Carving? Well, now you can! Take in an art-auction, or drop the kids at the Arts and Crafts class while at sea.

Children's Programs
While not as good as Royal Caribbean, your offspring from the ages of 3 to 17 will find more than enough things, and fellow-cruisers their own age to have plenty of fun with; all while under the supervision of certified educational and athletic professionals.

Bad cruise by Dr Angela from Tennesse
Sailing date: Nov 2007

Pros:
the large room, we had a sky suite

Cons:
wet wipes, unfriendly staff, smell of urine, cruise rep untrained

The average of the cruise was 68, it was advertised as 'wheelchair cruise' (to our surprise) so we had to wait in long lines as the wheel chairs were processed, the food fairly good, no passenger interaction, it seemed like no activities directory, the constant smell of urine and sewage, the cruise rep on the bus did not recognize my airport transport sheet off of 'my celebrity' website. He told us to thank celebrity for the free trip to the airport when the paper plainly said 'roundtrip confirmed'. There was no drawing of the ship in my room so I was never sure where anything was. They did not fold up the towels like animals and leave them on your bed - that has always been a treat before to see what the animal was going to be.
